Csaba Pál

Leben und Arbeit/biography

Csaba Pál was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1967. He got his diploma from the Academy of Applied Arts in Budapest (today Moholy-Nagy University), where he studied graphics and typography. At the same time he was a student of Dóra Maurer at the Painting College of the University of Art.

He has been working as a fine artist since 1993, had many solo and group exhibitions, made graphics, paintings, installations, computer graphics, fluxus works and artists books.

He joined the International Mail Art Network in 2007. Pál loves the unlimited “movement” of the works, the freedom, humour, irony and the diversity of the approaches that Mail Art can provide. “There are no formal or bureaucratic rules, anyone can do it, the objects can flow freely across the world, it is wonderful.”

Csaba Pál wurde 1967 in Budapest geboren. Sein Diplom hat er an der Hochschule der Angewandten Kunst (heute Moholy-Nagy Universität) in Budapest bekommen, wo er Grafik-Design und Typographie studierte. Er war gleichzeitig Meisterschüler bei Dóra Maurer an der Hochschule der Bildenden Kunst, Fakultät Malerei.

Seit 1993 stellt er als bildender Künstler aus. Er beschäftigt sich mit Grafik, Malerei, Installationskunst, Computergrafik und stellt Künstlerbücher her.

Seit 2007 ist er aktiver Mail Artist, weil er die grenzenlose Bewegung der Arbeiten, die Freiheit, Unabhängigkeit, Intimität, Humor, Ironie und die Vielfalt der Konzeptionen, die das Mail Art-Netzwerk bietet, sehr schätzt. “Jeder kann mitmachen, ohne formale oder bürokratische Regeln, die Sendungen fliessen frei durch die Welt, es ist wunderbar” – begründet er seine Begeisterung.

Honoria Starbuck

Leben und Arbeit/biography

Honoria Starbuck was born in Miami, Florida, USA, in 1947, today she lives and works in Austin, Texas.  She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology. She earned an interdisciplinary Ph.D. from The University of Texas in 2003 for her research on the mail art network’s uses of the Internet.  The doctoral research dissertation The Effects of the Internet on the Correspondence Art Network was published by TAM (for a download link see Literature below).

Honoria created the first Internet opera, honoria in ciberspazio, using the collaborative participation ideals of the mail art network to create a libretto by over 60 authors. Honoria also took over responsibility for the Electronic Museum and Mail Art when it had to move from CrackerJack Kid’s original servers in 1997 and worked with Kiyotei on mailartist.com. But she has been involved with mail art already since 1988 and hosted the Kiss show in Austin in 1991.

Honoria Starbuck wurde 1947 in Miami, Florida, geboren und lebt heute in Austin, Texas. Sie machte einen Bachelor der Bildenden Künste und einen Master’s Degree in “Instructional Technology”. 2003 bekam sie einen interdisziplinären Doktortitel an der University of Texas für ihre Forschung zur Nutzung des Internets durch das Mail Art-Netzwerk. Die Dissertation The Effects of the Internet on the Correspondence Art Network (Die Auswirkungen des Internets auf das Netzwerk der Correspondence Art) wurde im Internet veröffentlicht (Link siehe Literatur).

Honoria schuf die erste Internet-Oper Honoria in Ciberspazio. Das Libretto entstand durch die kooperative Beteiligung von über 60 Autoren, einem Idealfall des Mail Art-Netzwerks. 1997 übernahm Honoria die Verantwortung für das Electronic Mail Art Museum von CrackerJack Kid und arbeitete mit Kiyotei an http://mailartist.com. Sie beschäftigt sich aber schon seit 1988 mit Mail Art und war Gastgeberin der Kiss Show in Austin im Jahr 1991.
