Leben und Arbeit/biography
Horst Baur wurde1954 in München geboren. Von 1973 bis 1980 studierte er Philosophie und Kunstgeschichte in München. Von 1978 bis 1993 war er Mitglied an verschiedenen Avantgarde-Theater in München. Von 1980 bis 1982 absolvierte er eine Ausbildung zum Redakteur. Von 1981 bis 1982 war er Mitherausgeber der Zeitschrift Fliegenpilz für Politik und Kultur. Seit 1987 macht er Videos und Performances. Im Jahre 2000 hatte er einen Streit mit einem Kunsthistoriker über das Bild Mao Zedongs in der westlichen Kunst. Als er zu recherchieren begann, stieß er auf die Mail Art. Seitdem macht er im internationalen Netzwerk mit. Seit 2010 lebt und arbeitet er in Changsha, China.

Horst Baur was born in Munich in 1954. From 1973 to 1980 he studied philosophy and history of art in Munich. From 1978 to 1993 he was a member of several avant garde theaters in Munich. From 1980 to 1982 he was trained as an editor. From 1981 to 1982 he was Associate Editor of Fliegenpilz, a magazine for politics and culture. Since 1987, he has been doing videos and performances. In 2000, he had an argument with an art historian about the image of Mao Zedong in Western art. When researching, he found out about mail art and since then has been participating in the international network. Since 2010 he lives and works in Changsha, China.
