Carsten Schmidt-Olsen

Carsten Schmidt-Olsen was born in Denmark  in 1952. He grew up in the town of Hjørring in the north of Denmark, where he still lives and works. From 1974 to 1975 he attended the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen, a school for classical drawing. Carsten Schmidt-Olsen sees himself as a concept artist and uses various media such as painting (“robat-painting”), graphic design, photography, video, performance and Mail Art, to which he was introduced by Yoshio Nakajima in 1979. He had his first exhibitions around in Denmark (start 1975), and then also international. Carsten Schmidt-Olsen is a member of the Danish Association of Artists, a member of the Artist Society and of the Academy of Fine Arts, Denmark.

Carsten Schmidt-Olsen wurde 1952 in Dänemark geboren. Er wuchs in der Stadt Hjørring im Norden Dänemarks auf, wo er heute noch lebt und arbeitet. Von 1974 bis 1975 besuchte er die Ny Carlsberg Glyptothek in Kopenhagen, eine Schule für Klassisches Zeichnen. Carsten Schmidt-Olsen versteht sich als Konzeptkünstler. Er benutzt diverse Medien wie Malerei (“robat-painting”), Grafik, Fotografie, Video, Performance und Mail Art, in die er 1979 durch Yoshio Nakajima in Hollywood eingeführt wurde. Erste Ausstellungen hatte er 1975 in Dänemark, dann auch international. Carsten Schmidt-Olsen ist Mitglied im Dänischen Verband Bildender Künstler, der Artist Society und der Akademie der Schönen Künste, Dänemark.

Piermario Ciani

Leben und Arbeit/biography

Piermario Ciani was born in Bertiolo (Udine) on June 19, 1951. He was a painter, photographer, graphic artist and publisher. Since 1976 he exhibited paintings, photographs and multimedia installations. From 1980 on he was active in the mail art network. He created postcards, stamps and rubber stamp, participated in hundreds of projects and exhibitions around the world and created among others the signet for the 2nd Decentralized Networker Congress 1992. His artistic productions have been published in many magazines and books.

Since 1998 he has worked as a consultant for the visual arts of the city of Udine. Since 2002, he co-organized the project FUN (Fantastic United Nations) with Vittore Baroni and other international artists.

On July 3, 2006 he died at the age of 55 years.

Piermario Ciani wurde am 19. Juni 1951 in Bertiolo (Udine) geboren. Er war Maler, Fotograf, Grafiker und Herausgeber. Seit 1976 stellte er Gemälde, Fotografien und Multimedia-Installationen aus. Von 1980 an war er im Mail Art-Netzwerk aktiv. Er stellte Postkarten, Briefmarken und Stempel her, beteiligte sich an Hunderten von Projekten und Ausstellungen in der ganzen Welt und schuf u.a. das Signet für den 2. Dezentralen Networker Congress 1992. Seine künstlerische Produktion wurden in vielen Zeitschriften und Büchern veröffentlicht.

Seit 1998 war er als Berater für die visuellen Künste der Stadt Udine tätig. Seit 2002 organisierte er gemeinsam mit Vittore Baroni und anderen internationalen Künstlern das Projekt FUN (Fantastische Vereinte Nationen).

Am 3. Juli 2006 ist er im Alter von 55 Jahren gestorben.
