Joel S. Cohen, aka The Sticker Dude of Ragged Edge Press, NYC, is a printer, poet, publisher, troubadour, graphic artist and mail artist with a penchant for the production and distribution – in as personal a manner as possible – of socially relevant low cost art.
Joel S. Cohen collects artwork, puns, aphorisms, -the visual and verbal symbols, aesthetic moods and graphic social commentaries that surround us. After stripping these appropriations of their contexts, he achieves a personal resonance by combining, adding and reconfiguring so that old images convey new ideas. He then, as a professional printer, reproduces the works in quantity, in readily accessible media, and distributes them as freely and as personally as possible.

Joel S. Cohen sammelt Kunstwerke, Wortspiele, Aphorismen, visuelle und verbale Symbole und ästhetische und soziale Stimmungen, die uns umgeben. Durch Kürzen, Kombination und Neukonfiguration, erreicht er, dass alte Bilder neue Ideen vermitteln. Sie drängen den Betrachter zu überdenken, was er über die Welt zu wissen glaubt. Als professioneller Drucker reproduziert er diese Werke in großen Auflagen und verteilt sie so frei und persönlich wie möglich.
